This is one of the tumblogs I’m following, and I asked him the question above because I was so impressed with his recent posts.
So many volunteer groups and individuals have visited Tohoku to help us out by now both nationally and internationally.
I really, really cannot express my feelings well, and I cannot thank them enough.
Japanese media seldom report these things, so I’m afraid not many of us really realize how much help has been offered to us by now. Sad and embarrassing:/
I hope 2012 becomes the symbol year of recovery for us.

Tokyo decided today to start accepting the contaminated debris on 2nd Nov. The containers reach Tokyo the next day, on 3rd. They will crash the rubble in two different places in Tokyo, and then burn burnable, bury nonburnable and the burnt ashes.
They say they will accept 11,000ton by March 2012, and the final total will be around 500,000ton by 2013.
They say they inspect the radiation at times before and after they load the debris to containers and crash them. And they insist the last time when they inspected samples, the radiation level was far under their temporal regulation level.(thus it’s very safe!)
BUT YOU SHOULD KNOW, the temporal standard is crazy in itself.
Japanese government is mad and is about to spread the contamination to the nationwide, and consequently to the world.

This link is not about burnable cesium, but you can guess how awful our situation is at the moment. This link, in fact, is controversial when viewed in different perspective. But still the fact is fact. This is awful. We cannot support our government at all.

I hope my followers here understand how serious I am when I mention *this type of subject* on this tumblr and ask you for help.
It’s really hard for me to tell you what’s really going on in Japan these days, for seven months since 3.11, but to tell you the very truth, my head has been pretty occupied with the threat of spreading radiation and spreading-but-secretly-hidden food contamination.
I cannot/don’t want to believe this is what is happening in my own country. sob.

likewise, i’ll reblog this again because the deadline is close.please please sign if you hope to visit a Japan that is safer for the future! or if you hope to live in Japan at any point in life! it broke my heart when i heard several tourist spots i had not yet seen (like Nikko and Hiraizumi) already having become highly contaminated. and no one ever supported Chernobyl by eating all their food (unlike what’s going on in Japan right now).
if you love Japan, you know the thing to do!
If you love J-POP musicians, think of them. Most of them are in Tokyo!

There appear to be campaigns of threats to individuals blogging the truth about geiger readings and other data, over here. It seems that the gov’t and private interests supporting nuclear power will stop at nothing to cover-up or censor any information inside of Japan. My husband and I scour the internet for information as we are in Wakayama Prefecture in southwest Japan, about 660 from the reactors in Fukushima. But most people don’t have the time to do this in Japan, especially in the case of families where both parents work full-time. People are nervous, but in a reserved fashion, don’t talk openly with strangers unless they are surrounded by people they know well…this insanity must stop. I just want to go to my daughter’s school and scream at the top of my lungs , ‘Why would you let your children eat the school lunches when only 65-70% of the ingredients come from local, uncontaminated sources?!’ But this would cause panic, the principal and my daughter’s teacher tell me. They are hired by the state and must follow party line. (facebook comment)
